description : New York dentist, Dr Carlos Alfonso, is a board certified Prosthodontist who began his career in dentistry by obtaining his first Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) in the Dominican Republic. After graduation, he went on to attend New York University College of Dentistry, where he obtained his second DDS degree. He continued his training and completed his general practice residency at Harlem Hospital, where he was asked to stay on as chief resident. Dr. Alfonso later on attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he pursued a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics and became board certified. During his years at Columbia University, Dr. Alfonso taught dental students and oversaw the literature review in fixed prosthodontics. Dr. Alfonso also runs his own implant study club, where he assists dentists continuing to further their education with seminars in cosmetic dentistry, implants and oral surgery. Dr Alfonso is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics,a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology, a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists as well as the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. He is also a Former Assistant Professor, Division of Prosthodontics, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Alfonso became a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
